Benefit Concert on April 16, 2011
Dear Friends,
As many of you know, on Friday, March 11th, Japan suffered twin disasters – an earthquake and a tsunami that have left towns and people in despair. The number of deaths and those that are missing continue to rise every day. Homes and businesses have been destroyed. Residents are without shelter and food. And now currently with the nuclear situation, Japan will surely need help for a very long time. Recovering from these tragedies will not be quick or easy.
Since that day, many around the world have been following the news day after day. In light of these tragic events, we have decided to organize a benefit concert to aid in Japan’s relief efforts. In co-sponsorship with the New York Society for Ethical Culture and collaborating with the World Civic Orchestra, the benefit concert “NYC Musicians for Japan” will be held on April 16, 2011 at 7:00pm at the New York Society for Ethical Culture (2 West 64th Street, NYC). All donations and proceeds from the concert will directly go to the most affected areas to help victims recover from the devastating effects of the earthquake and tsunami through the Japanese Red Cross Society.
Members of the orchestra and the conductors are generously donating their time to come together for Japan.
Program
